Financial Stewardship —Your Money Matters to CCA
CCA is a trusted organization that has been recognized for over 15 years as an excellent steward of financial resources. We do not accept government funding for our programs, therefore relying on our community to be the lifeblood of our organization, providing JoyRx to critically ill children, teens and their families. We understand how important it is to be good stewards of your financial support and are proud that 82% of all funds go directly to our programs. We are excited to share our endorsements, memberships and honors that prove our track record of accountability.
In fiscal year 2011, which ended April 30, 2011, CCA served 3,622 children, teens and their families through a variety of innovative programs. Over 275,000 interactions were recorded during this time, with kids, teens, families and hospital staff through CCA's MusicRx, ChemoPal, LifeSupport and Caring Cabin programs, as well as the JoyRx website and our many other education and community resources.

The Children’s Cancer Association receives no federal or state funds. Every dollar received by CCA comes from individual donors, corporate support and foundation grants. For each dollar spent in FY10, 82 cents went directly to our programs. |
“For the last 7 years CCA is proud to have earned an unqualified audit opinion from independent auditors. CCA is a strong, sustainable, and essential community organization meeting the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability.” —Paul Gulick, CCA Board Chair, 2008-10,
"As an auditor in the practice of public accounting, I see first hand every day the importance of strong financial controls and fiscal responsibilities. In my line of work, I have seen well-intentioned organizations falter due to weaknesses in these areas. It is clear that the best programs in the world are not sustainable without a commitment to accountability and stewardship. CCA understands this and continually makes the investment in time and resources toward the safeguarding of assets, risk management, and maximizing the return on each dollar received. CCA’s nearly 80% ratio of charitable program expense is one glowing illustration of this commitment. CCA also has received the highest rating in organizational efficiency from Charity Navigator, the premier American charity evaluator, based on how CCA allocates funds among programs, administration and fundraising, and how contributions are used to grow programs. CCA’s overall rating of three stars meets or exceeds industry standards and is a significant achievement for an organization of CCA’s size."
