On Thursday, April 6, JoyRx celebrated our annual Live From the Heart Benefit Concert in Austin, Texas. This year, our musical guest was Amos Lee, who performed at the iconic ACL Moody Theater in downtown Austin.

Every February, Unitus supports JoyRx and the kids and families to whom it brings the healing power of Joy. The delight and warmth that JoyRx inspires cannot be measured, but it can be felt. You can feel it when you support the JoyRx mission and through the Joy that you bring to kids like 11-year-old Xavier Waldow.

For a fourth year, more than 100 Black Rock Coffee Bar stores around the United States are contributing 100% of the sales from its purple-themed drink — the Blue Raspberry & Strawberry Fuel® – to JoyRx, the mission delivery of Children’s Cancer Association. And you can help support them!

JoyRx is thrilled to join hundreds of nonprofits for participation in Amplify Austin on March 1, 2023. Amplify Austin is a 24-hour day of giving for Austin area nonprofits, hosted by I Live Here I Give Here.

On Friday, December 16, JoyRx celebrated the holidays with the Oregon Symphony Musicians for a special holiday music event. Comprised of six strings and percussionist volunteers from the Oregon Symphony, the livestream concert delivered festive holiday cheer to families across the country.

On October 29, JoyRx took to the skies with our annual fundraiser gala, Wonderball, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. For the first time in three years, we were back in-person with a night filled with amazing entertainment, inspiring speakers, exciting packages, and — of course — Joy.  

On Sunday, September 25, the six Catholic schools in the Portland metro area came together to participate in the ninth annual Walk for Joy event. In a show of solidarity and compassion, high school students worked to raise funds for JoyRx and raise awareness of pediatric cancer during the month of September.

It was a Joyous moment when Janet Crouch arrived at the Audi Beaverton dealership. As the winner of this year’s JoyRx Summer Giveaway, Janet and her family were the proud owners of the luxury 2022 Audi A3 Sedan.

JoyRx, the mission delivery of Children’s Cancer Association, knows it takes more than medicine to treat cancer and other serious illnesses. When a child is facing life’s most challenging moments, they also need emotional healing. JoyRx programs — JoyRx Music, JoyRx Mentorship, JoyRx Nature — light up each child’s life with music, friendship, and rejuvenating trips into the outdoors.

On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, Gay Davis — co-founder of Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club near Portland, Oregon and generous JoyRx friend — thanked the crowd of golf pros, amateurs, and their families for joining him at the 12th annual Golf for Joy Pro-Am Tournament, his favorite day of the year.

On Monday, April 25, 45 golfers put their skills to the test as they embarked on an ambitious challenge to play as many holes as they could in support of Children’s Cancer Association and its JoyRx programs.

On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, Gay Davis—co-founder of Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club near Portland, Oregon and generous CCA friend—thanked the crowd of golf pros, amateurs, and their families for joining him at the eleventh annual Golf for Joy pro-am tournament, his favorite day of the year.

Gathering five Oregonian sports stars, 24 teams of pro and amateur golfers, and their loved ones together at the beautiful Oregon Golf Club for the thirteenth annual CCA Invitational certainly made for a competitive pro-am tournament. But more importantly, it created a powerful force for Joy, raising more than $370,000 in support of CCA’s JoyRx Music program and enabling thousands of sick kids and their families to find Joy and emotional healing while facing the profound hardship of serious pediatric illness.

A decade ago, Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club co-founder and dedicated Children’s Cancer Association (CCA) supporter, Gay Davis, challenged himself to play 100 holes to raise funds for CCA’s Joy-based programs.

Just over 10 years ago, Gay Davis decided to fuse his passion for golf with his desire to help deliver Joy to kids with cancer.

The gloomy Oregon weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of students from six local high schools as they took to the streets of Portland for the annual Walk for Joy fundraiser. What started as a community event with Jesuit High School in 1998, has now grown to encompass six local Catholic schools: Jesuit High School Portland, Central Catholic High School, St. Mary’s Academy, Valley Catholic School, La Salle Catholic College Preparatory, and De La Salle North Catholic High School.

Portland’s community of Joy-seekers, change-makers, and visionary dreamers brought a buzz of excitement and energy to this year’s Wonderball Gala: Joie de Vivre. While experiencing the delights of French culture, the true meaning of the night wasn’t lost. Together we raised $1.27 million which will directly provide the healing power of music, friendship, and nature to children and their families facing serious illness.

Picture MLB All-Star Pitcher, Roger Clemens; former NFL Quarterback, Drew Bledsoe; and ESPN Sportscaster, Sean McDonough in a room together. No – it’s not the beginning of a joke, but the beginning of what would become a powerful night for Joy at the 11th Annual CCA Invitational.

Golfing and cancer aren’t often talked about in the same sentence, but for Gay Davis using his passion for golf to provide Joy to children facing cancer and other serious illness was never a question of if, but how?
