Golf for Joy Austin Tees Up for Successful Third Year
Last hosted in the spring of 2024 to great attendance and celebration, Austin’s Golf for Joy Tournament, presented by NFP, returned for its third year as a two-day event on November 9-10, 2025. And what a joyful event it was!
This year saw familiar faces and new friends come together, marking the largest number of guests and teams to participate in the Austin event’s history. Through the generosity of our community, the event raised $262,000 for JoyRx Music in Austin.
Celebrating a Night of Joy
On Sunday, players and guests enjoyed a prelude to the tournament with a cocktail hour, dinner, and JoyRx program. With the evening hosted by Alex Moffat, JoyRx Ambassador and beloved SNL alum, it was a lively and spirited celebration of the power of music and joy.
We also heard from Jack Pipkin, Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Cancer Association, and JJ Ruiz, Vice President of NFP and sponsor spokesperson. With Dale Johannes leading the crowd through a lively auction, it was an eventful evening.
“It’s incredible to see this community come together for one purpose: to power JoyRx Music,” Jack told the room.
And, of course, we were honored to welcome Tiffany Zimmerman to the stage as a distinguished speaker. Tiffany, mother to Jaxson, was our family speaker and shared the powerful story of her son’s connection with JoyRx Music during his cancer treatment.
“The first time [Jaxson interacted with JoyRx Music], we were in the infusion room and Monica, the music specialist we work with, arrived with her cart of musical instruments.
Jaxson had just finished a lumbar puncture that had left him feeling groggy and disoriented, so he wasn’t playing with the other kids… But when Monica got set up and started playing music and singing, the whole vibe in the infusion room changed. It became more joyful.
Jaxson opened his eyes, curious to see what was going on. And just like that, I saw the spark in his eye, that bright and bubbly personality ready to engage with the world around him. It was amazing to see.”
Finally, we ended the night welcoming Jim “Bones” Mackay, legendary caddy, to the stage for a Q&A interview with Erik Anders Lang from Random Golf Club. These golf legends captivated the crowd with their conversation, presenting a true masterclass in the game of golf.
Taking to the Fairway
Monday morning dawned sunny and temperate, ideal golf weather for many of our teams, who took to the tournament hosted at Westlake Country Club. With beautiful, sprawling holes and picturesque scenery throughout the course, teams were in high spirits as they competed for the coveted purse prize.
